First Meeting Recap!

Hello again from Matt and Sam!

With our trip-reveal and first official meeting behind us, we just wanted to take some time to recap.

This March, we will be leading 12 awesome honors students on the Food Security and Justice trip! Our group will be traveling to Raleigh, NC where we will work with community partners to promote sustainable change. We are thrilled to have a trip that features strong, direct service such as sorting food, serving in a food kitchen, and working in a community garden. Likewise, we are just as passionate about our more indirect service such as writing letters to Congressmen and working in a local thrift store. By doing this, we are seeing first-hand the injustices surrounding food and how this intersects with other critical social issues.

We hope that Alternative Spring Break will be a monumental experience for the community in Raleigh and for our participants. We still have three team meetings to go before we load up the vans, so stay tuned for more updates as we continue our pre-trip preparations!
